Digital Marketing Pro Tip ⚡️When looking for inspiration for your company’s website design or redesign, look outside of your industry. Why? You’ll find some innovative ways to communicate and visualize what you do, and you’ll stand out in your field in doing so.
The instinct is to look at what others in your field are doing (and spoiler alert: that’s what businesses do, because it’s easy and obvious, and we think we need to keep up with the Joneses!), but that just leads to everyone doing the same thing. Stand out in your profession by looking at how other industries are communicating, and think about creative spins to make that work for your business.

Doing work late at night? Schedule emails to go out the next morning.
We all do it - catch up on work in the evenings or on weekends. Get the itch to write a few emails while you have something on your mind. But maybe think twice about sending emails to coworkers or clients during off hours. There are a couple of reasons to do this:
✋🏽BOUNDARIES
You may be doing work over the weekend, but be careful not to let down a boundary pertaining to clients or coworkers contacting you during “off” hours. People receiving your email during your non-business hours will think that’s an open invitation to contact you whenever they want. Solution? Write the email, but schedule it to go out first thing Monday morning.
😓 INCREASED STRESS
Have you ever received an email late at night, or on the weekend that was work related and felt that familiar pang of stress? Does anyone really like to see emails coming through at those times? 🤔 Out of respect for your contact’s sanity (ha!), think about if that message really needs to be seen over the weekend or during off-hours, or if you could help out their mental health by having it land in their inbox during normal working hours.

Today is Women’s Equality Day, and as a woman who owns a business, it’s a very important day to recognize! It wasn’t that long ago that I would not have been able to call myself a business owner because women were considered less than their male counterparts (and we still have some work to do in that department 😉). Join me in celebrating this day, and acknowledging some of my friends and clients who are fellow women business owners!
From the National Women’s History Alliance:
“At the behest of Rep. Bella Abzug (D-NY), in 1971 and passed in 1973, the U.S. Congress designated August 26 as “Women’s Equality Day.” The date was selected to commemorate the 1920 certification of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution, granting women the right to vote. This was the culmination of a massive, peaceful civil rights movement by women that had its formal beginnings in 1848 at the world’s first women’s rights convention, in Seneca Falls, New York. The observance of Women’s Equality Day not only commemorates the passage of the 19th Amendment, but also calls attention to women’s continuing efforts toward full equality.” @nationalwomenshistoryalliance

Website launches are so exciting - the custom website design process is typically a 6-8 week process, from content gathering/development, UX work, design, staging and final build. So when launch day comes around - it’s such a big day!
@abundance.ministries wanted a comforting, welcoming, safe web space for their visitors to enter into. The combo of soft, warm purples and browns, swooping curves, and welcoming handwriting font achieved this beautifully!

New website launch! 🎉
Welcome to the OMC family, @karenlaosconsulting! Karen is the absolute dream client. It was ✨such✨ a pleasure to work with her on redesigning her site. Karen helps women in business find their confident voice through her communication coaching, speaking, weekly podcast, and releasing soon – her book!
Her old site was created on Squarespace and she recognized that it was time to move to a professional custom built site, that aligned with her growth goals. While Squarespace is a fine option for new business owners who may not have a web budget, and want to DIY a site to get their web presence out there, it’s not ideal for long-term growth. Karen’s new WordPress website allows for more customization, SEO optimization, deeper analytics tracking, and an overall better web experience.
Karen is also on our monthly Website Care Package, which means her website is well maintained, secure, optimized, and even gets a little VIP design left each month 🤩

This month, Orange Moss Creative turned 4! 🎉
2020/2021 has been a crazy time for business owners because of big changes worldwide with COVID. It put pressure on business owners to learn how to operate differently. It resulted in job losses for many. It resulted in job creation for others. And many entrepreneurs were born, as problems arose that they realized they could solve.
Here are a few takeaways from the last year, and hopefully they inspire you as business owners, creatives, and everyone in between.
🌟 The amount of new business owners that have emerged has been truly inspiring. While being busy designing logos and websites for your dreams product / service / side-hustle, hearing your origin story has become one of the favorite parts of my job!
🐢 Slow and steady wins the race. OMC’s growth over the last 4 years has been slow but steady, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. To all you creative business owners out there, know that growth doesn’t have to equal burnout. You don’t have to do all the things, all at one time, to feel like you’re keeping up with other creators around you. Go at your own pace, and be cognizant of what your clients needs are and how you can meet those needs where you are, or where you’re comfortable going. Growth comes in stages.
✌🏼Find what brings you peace. Your clients need the best version of you, so find out how to be that. For me, it’s been figuring out what brings me peace. For me, that looks like finding time to read. Finding time to exercise. Being present with family when I’m off the clock. Intentionality about keeping in touch with friends. Turning off the podcasts and turning up my favorite music for deep work.
Here’s to the last four and many more! 🥂

She opened her doors to her new performing arts studio right before COVID hit, and talk about a powerhouse female business owner. Wow it’s September already? Finally coming up to breath. It’s been nonstop with work (great problem to have) and balancing distance learning, but man it’s been a rewarding year and it’s not even over yet. As I’m coming up on the 3rd Anniversary of OMC, there’s a lot to celebrate. I have lots of work to share and will be doing that more as the end of the year approaches.

I love when I do print projects and my clients send me the finished result!! Fun fact about me - I absolutely love publication design - magazines, books, you name it. I love typography and nothing gets you in the trenches like a long document to design. This was a Journal for @mtbethelchurch that turned out just great. I love seeing how they are adapting to serving their congregation during the challenges of COVID. This is a great piece that was mailed out to their members, and displayed digitally on their website.

One of the graphic design greats passed away last week. Milton Glaser was such an inspiration. He was someone that graphic designers looked up to not only to see the epitome of creativity, but he somehow always seemed to have a firm handle on life too. He will be greatly missed.
